La Maternelle

La Maternelle is a French pre-school available to children ages 3 - 5 living in the St. John Valley. 

Programs are offered that help enhance the learning of the local french language.

The Concour Oratorie is a French public speaking competition open to all high school students living in the St. John Valley. Every year different subjects are selected. There are three different levels of competition , débutant (beginner), intermédiaire (intermediate), and supérieur (superior). 

La Maternelle is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the French language for the next generation.  We seek to teach French to children at an age when they are most capable of learning it with the goal of keeping the French language and culture alive in the St. John Valley.

We believe that early exposure to crafts, songs, dances, and hands on activities in the context of a second language plants the seeds of bilingualism and biculturalism which are essential tools for success in our modern global society.

This program is available to students in grades K-5. The dances learned, such as jigs, are part of our Acadian and Franco-American culture and tradition. Adults may participate also.
